LEGACY & JUSTICE

The Bloody Sunday Justice Campaign was one of the most successful campaigns in these islands.  The declaration by the British Prime Minister on 15 June 2010 that the actions of British soldiers were "unjustified and unjustifiable" and that "he was truly sorry" was unprecedented in world history.

The Legacy & Justice Module will entail visits to the city,  the Museum of Free Derry and the Siege Museums.  They will meet leaders of the Justice Campaign, as well as the Pat Finucane Centre, one of the leading victims advocacy groups.

This module will also draw on the contacts that the Bloody Sunday Trust has with other justice groups, including Hillsborough (Liverpool), Omagh and Justice for the Forgotten in the Republic of Ireland.

The Museum of Free Derry is a regular destination for all sections of our community, including diverse religious and political leaders, CCMS and state schools, community groups and former members of loyalist and republican paramilitary groups.

This module will benefit victims of violence, NGO's involved in support and advocacy for victims, former combatants, the police and civic society.  It will explore how victims can challenge perpetrators, and how these campaigns can help transform politics, relationships and society, throughout Ireland and Britain.
